No, you must slide the flange onto the tap body before screwing the fixture into the wall pipe. Because it is a solid ring, it cannot pass over the tap’s bulky handle or spout once the unit is fixed in place. If you forget this step, you will be forced to uninstall the entire tap just to fit this decorative cover.
It is quite common for a flange to sit loosely if the pipe nipple protrudes slightly unevenly from the wall. To fix this, simply apply a small dot of clear silicone or putty on the back rim of the flange before sliding it back. Press it firmly against the tiles, and it will stay perfectly in place without rattling or sliding forward.
JAL flanges are finished with durable chrome plating that provides excellent resistance against rust and corrosion in humid bathrooms. However, to keep them looking new, you should avoid letting water droplets dry on the surface, as this leads to ugly lime scale buildup. A quick wipe with a soft, dry cloth is all that is needed to maintain their brilliant mirror-like shine.
These flanges are engineered to fit standard 1/2-inch (15mm) threads, which are used for almost all domestic taps, angle valves, and shower arms. While this covers 99% of plumbing fixtures, some unique imported designer taps may require specific non-standard sizes.
